The origin of Karate is actually in the Ryukyu Kingdom, known today as Okinawa when it was annexed by Japan. Humans are always borrowing each other's ideas and changing them slightly to claim them as their own.

Anyway I've lived in Japan my whole life. Kaworu-kun came to Japan from Germany. [ He's afraid to ask this but who knows, it could prove fruitful, ] Have you ever been to Japan?

One of my favorite heroes got his start there. What state are you from? I memorized them all.

Tell me more about this hero guy though.
Is he half as tough as you are?

He worked in California! In a city called Los Angeles. He was the greatest hero. He's retired now, but at his peak, he was uh... probably twice as strong as me, and with a lot more experience and charisma, which makes him stronger.

[ Don't mind him, just quietly losing it at someone comparing him to All Might... Not the first time it's happened, but usually it's in a manner that scrutinizes or downright belittles Midoriya... ]

But... one of my favorite things about him is he's so nice. He saved a teenager's life once, and made a joke to reassure them afterward. There was no villain during that incident, not as flashy as some of his other exploits, but it's one of my favorites.

I was intended to be able to live in Japan so I was raised by people who taught me these things.

...What nationality did you think "Nagisa Kaworu" was from?

I do have 18 years of memories of growing up in America, though, from a reality altering spell. They're a little fuzzy. But I do get some pop culture references!
