Animals are gardening are complementary hobbies. You can grow crops to feed the animals, and in turn the animals can eventually feed the crops as fertilizer. Is that how you manage the balance?
Honestly, the gardening thing is something I've only started in the last years or so. I did grow up on a planet with a lot of small farms and a cultural emphasis on sustainability. That is, before the Empire started displacing people, and demanding massive strip mining and ship building. But I was not raised ON a farm.
And then I mostly lived on a small space ship for four years.
But I am working on learning more about ecology and that sort of balance. If you know any experts or can point to other good sources, I'd appreciate it!
This almost doesn't bear mentioning, but the Archives are a wealth of information if you've not perused it. There's a method to navigating them that's not always obvious.
Totally worth mentioning if I were a newbie. But I did practically live in the Archives my first month here, inhaling information. Usually letting my intuition guide me around works well.

Never enough hours in the day for me, now that I've settled in more.
