The idea of him being a fairy makes sense. You did just find him out in the wilderness. Do you think he's from this place, or came from somewhere else, like we did?

Someone said he was a prize for surviving a trial once, but I don't really like to think of him that way. He's been a gift for me, though. If he's from somewhere else, I don't know. He doesn't act like he has a home to go back to, but he is different from anything in Trench.

Do magicians not teach because they can't or they don't want to expose their secrets?

He was born here, wasn't he? There's where your line comes from, and then there's where your home is. They can be very different things. His home is with you, either way.

Most of them say it's because they can't. I believe about half of them. (I think they underestimate me as a student.)
