[Johnny wasn't the greatest person around. He couldn't argue with that and trying to justify some of his worst traits would only go so far. But if there was one thing he did care about it was the kids that he trained and their wellbeing. They gave him the motivation to be better than he was and he last thing he wanted was for any of them to end up in the same situations he had been.]
I've seen what you and your friends can do here. I feel like you guys deal with some serious shit where you're from.
But it really showed in your matches. The way you and Paul's boyfriend went at it in the finals. You could feel the intensity but you both were having a blast.
Yeah, yeah. This place is a shit show- I wont hold you to a date. But if you take too long I can't say I wont throw another tournament where you'll have to defend it anyways.
[He reads over that last little bit and feels himself smile a little too. He knew the bears had been a little intense. But he was kind of glad they were seeing more eye to eye now.
Paul had told him his methods could be a little much so it was on his mind.]
I'm glad, kid. Take what I taught you and never forget it. It'll give you strength when you need it. And if we're being real here, I turned away from them when I was a kid too. It took me over thirty years to come back to them.
[And for that alone, Ochako is sure she could at least be personable enough to Johnny to treat him well. She's gone through a lot herself, mostly back home. A whole war, actually, that's still raging back home... A little tough love is nothing in comparison.]
Yeah, it's a lot... It's why we train as hard as we do back home. Superheroes means there's also supervillains, too, obviously. I've faced off against a few nasty ones in the past, and the boys have done even more than me.
[There's, ah...few bad dudes in Trench, actually. So far so good on the whole "not attacking unless attacked" front, but...the other shoe could drop at any second, which has been insanely tense for a...long while.]
Deku-kun is really strong. I've admired his strength and determination pretty much since the day I met him. I've been inspired by him and by Bakugou a whole lot... Those two specifically just seem to have this PRESENCE that makes you wanna do better, fight better. Plus Ultra, for sure.
Ne, sometimes that's just what you need though, right? I did my first internship with a lesser known Pro Hero back home - Gunhead. He taught me all my Martial Arts moves, and I've kept that up ever since. But now, I'm studying under Ryukyu, the current #10 ranked Hero. Her way of fighting AND teaching is totally different. I love them both, and I know Ryukyu-san is more experienced...but I miss Gunhead-sensei a lot sometimes, too.
[Gunhead just has immense "kawaii uncle who could crush your head like a soda can" vibes. It's very endearing. Don't question it, please.]
