Maybe it goes by a different name, like how 'Girl That Fell Through The World' is like Earth's 'Through The Looking Glass' stories.
[He was too tired for a full literature conversation, which he would have been eager for at any other time. ]
Please sit down, Mr. LaRusso.
[... Don't think he's not aware of how you've been Mother Father Hen at everyone. ]
It's the story of a man that discovered a second soul inside of himself, and how they fight for control of his body.
On Remnant, a lot of fairy tales were written as a way to explain truths that had to be kept secret.
In this case, the story explains the usual theme of there being something unknown hidden inside everyone's heart... But also that there actually exists a man who has no choice but to live in other bodies until he completes an impossible task.
Instead of normal immortality, this helps make sure that the man is never truly alone.
...The Gods that abandoned my world knew that immortality and solitude are a dangerous combination.
[ Thanks for the warning, Oscar. Especially since Daniel does need it. No matter how much ridiculous stuff he's been basically beaten over the head with over the past week or so he's been in this place, it's always startling all over again. So he is sitting down to try and take this in. ]
Okay, I think I see where you're going with this.
[ Given some of the other stuff that's been said here. ]
But isn't that
[ .. the 'someone is writing' bubble sure appears and disappears a few times. It's hard to think of how to even word this when the entire idea is so beyond what Daniel ever thought could be possible. ]
How would two people live together in one body? Wouldn't it be awkward, at the very least?
Or. I was, before I woke up in Julia Sodder's dream.
[He knew it sounded outlandish. If anyone understood that idea in Trench, it was Oscar. A farmlad that was raised on a diet of wholesome food and every book he could get his hands on, he didn't plan on a life of adventure.
It just wasn't what farmhands did.
Instead...]
It's not easy, and it involves a LOT of cooperation, but I made it work.
This happened to the guy I inherited this from twice in the Dream. He was back to himself after a day, but a lot of things changed about our skills and limits when we came to Trench.
[ Right. So he was right. Oscar is.. inside of Paul, somehow. Like they're sharing Paul's head together. A Freaky Friday situation, except there's only one body involved. It's incredibly outlandish, but Daniel is doing his best to just accept it for what it is. Questioning it won't change it in any way either.
Besides, he's sure it's miles more uncomfortable for Oscar and Paul right now than it is confusing for Daniel himself. ]
I hope so too. [ Of course. Neither of them should have to deal with this. ]
Are you absolutely sure there's nothing that can be done about it?
[ Of course that's where Daniel's mind goes.
He can't help but father hen here. Father henning is his sole way of coping with his place now a herd of kids has been thrown right into his lap. ]
Or even anything that could make it easier on you both until it's resolved?
[ He knows it's not like that will do much, if anything at all. But he's not going to be an idiot and claim he can do anything about this situation when it's entirely new to him - no, when all this supernatural stuff is way beyond his full understanding in the first place.
Maybe the best thing he can do is just to treat Oscar and Paul kindly while they're going through something so difficult. ]
What's your favourite flavour?
You know, preferably one Paul isn't allergic to.
[ Not that Daniel knows Paul has any allergies, but. You never know. Besides, it's a faint attempt to try and keep this a little light, even in the face of something so overwhelming. ]
...I think anything that's orange or red should be ok.
[He didn't know, offhand. Getting that info would be simple, but he didn't want to violate Paul's privacy further than he already was.
Besides. Keeping it simple might see least help Mr. LaRusso feel as if he were able to do something about the situation-- even if the slushie was only a very small comfort in the grander picture. ]
[ .. that's kind of an odd answer when it comes to flavours, isn't it.
On the other hand, when he thinks about it, the flavours the kids asked for back in the truck were also those colours.. Maybe it's just a thing for them. A thing Oscar might have picked up on from being inside of Paul's head, maybe hearing the other's thoughts. ]
Consider it done.
Seriously though, Oscar, if you need anything else at any point, just send me a message. Or ask Paul to ask me, okay?
[ Even if he can't do anything else, he can at least offer an open channel in case something does come up. ]

I've already looped in the people who might know something. One of them will figure it out... If there's anything to figure out.
If it's time, then all we can do is wait.
