There's nothing weird about that, kid. It's just a competitive spirit and that's exactly what I wanted my tournament to wake up in some of you. Fighting or competing doesn't always have to be life or death situations. I feel like a lot of the people around here get that programmed into them from how fucking bizarre this place or their own homes are. There's a lot you can learn about yourself by testing yourself against your friends or someone who isn't out to fucking murder you.
Plus you're a fucking champion now- even if he beat you to a pulp before you have a title under your belt now and you've got to do what you can to defend that.
But don't mention it, kid. Just focus on your fight. Put on a show that'll blow us all away. We'll pick up the pieces afterwards.

[Ochako blinks, reading over that first part there a few times before it actually, really sinks in. Huh...for as prickly and Not Great™ as Johnny is a lot of the time...he's not so bad, either. In fact, he's sort of like a few of the teachers back at UA, really - strict, a little bit crazy (looking at you, Principal Nezu), but wise and supportive. Ochako smiles down at her Omni, humming a bit to herself.]
You're right. Actually, I think I'd count myself among the ones that sometimes forget that fighting isn't all about needing to survive. It's been good just to fight for the sake of fighting, and growing a little bit. I had a lot of fun with each of my matches...everyone took me seriously, and didn't hold back. It was awesome. ^O^

I'm glad, kid. Take what I taught you and never forget it. It'll give you strength when you need it. And if we're being real here, I turned away from them when I was a kid too. It took me over thirty years to come back to them.

Yeah, it's a lot... It's why we train as hard as we do back home. Superheroes means there's also supervillains, too, obviously. I've faced off against a few nasty ones in the past, and the boys have done even more than me.
[There's, ah...few bad dudes in Trench, actually. So far so good on the whole "not attacking unless attacked" front, but...the other shoe could drop at any second, which has been insanely tense for a...long while.]
Deku-kun is really strong. I've admired his strength and determination pretty much since the day I met him. I've been inspired by him and by Bakugou a whole lot... Those two specifically just seem to have this PRESENCE that makes you wanna do better, fight better. Plus Ultra, for sure.
Ne, sometimes that's just what you need though, right? I did my first internship with a lesser known Pro Hero back home - Gunhead. He taught me all my Martial Arts moves, and I've kept that up ever since. But now, I'm studying under Ryukyu, the current #10 ranked Hero. Her way of fighting AND teaching is totally different. I love them both, and I know Ryukyu-san is more experienced...but I miss Gunhead-sensei a lot sometimes, too.
[Gunhead just has immense "kawaii uncle who could crush your head like a soda can" vibes. It's very endearing. Don't question it, please.]
